Improving your wellbeing by slowing down

Most of us have been conditioned to look outside ourselves for answers when we want to improve our wellbeing. Depending on what area of our life we want to improve, we either go to a doctor, a guru or a financial advisor and we require answers from them on a short term. We rarely take the time to slow down and commune with our heart (soul) and to ask for inner advise or guidance. That we have an inner guidance system is demonstrated with the human design method detailing our inner strategy, authority, energetic resources and conditioning. This is what some refer to as ‘all the answers are inside us’. If we can just take the time and allow ourselves enough rest and stillness, we would naturally reconnect to our inner guidance and wisdom.

If we want to improve our wellbeing, we have to slow down first, be still and receptive to the voice and wisdom of our heart. That is what the world needs most now, for us to slow down and to feel. As we improve our wellbeing individually, we also contribute to the healing and wellbeing of the collective.

When I look back at my own individual journey of transformation, my overall wellbeing improved as I slowed down and deconditioned from the belief that I had to be productive in order to have value. I was judging myself every time I would sit on the couch to watch a youtube video instead of being productive. This conditioning and the belief that there is something wrong with us if we do nothing, is multi generational because survival was key for our ancestors and to survive they had to work and be productive to the point that it became unhealthy and out of balance with other aspects of life. When we solely focus on career and work, there is bound to be imbalance in other areas of our life such as family life or health.

To experience optimal wellbeing, we have to bring all aspects of our life in balance, that is how we can create authentic success (see below picture). Some in the field of spirituality refer to this as ‘self mastery’ and in a way it is because when you know and understand your own authentic energy, you can direct it in ways to help you achieve more balance, success and wellbeing. For most of us this is a life long journey of creating more awareness through stillness and slowing down, doing inner work and realising transformation. In essence, the main work we have to do is not necessarily our career or work, but ourselves. We are each a piece of divine art that we shape, reshape and transform throughout each earthly life.

As we move towards the end of 2024 and we align with the cycle of the earth, we will naturally slow down and take time this winter season to introspect.
